Explore an AI receptionist for your PBX while keeping your existing staff phones and phone-system provider. Assess selected call answering and direct handover to approved internal extensions or queues.
PBX integrations are being prepared for controlled customer pilots. Your provider’s connection must be approved and tested before activation.
A PBX is your business’s phone system: it manages staff extensions, queues and where calls go. AI PBX integration connects that system to an AI receptionist for selected calls, rather than treating every internal destination as a public phone number.
Start with a specific job, such as capturing after-hours enquiries or answering overflow calls. We work with your phone administrator to check the connection, agree the permitted destinations and test how callers return to your team.
Your phone system sends a selected call to AiDial through an approved direct connection. The assistant answers using your business information, collects the details you have agreed and identifies whether the caller needs a person.
When a handover is appropriate, AiDial asks the same phone system to connect the caller to an approved extension or queue. AiDial leaves the call; the PBX manages the onward conversation, ringing, queue or voicemail according to its configured rules.
An accounts extension or support queue can make sense inside your PBX without having a public direct number. A qualified PBX connection lets the assistant select an approved destination by its business purpose, such as Accounts or Support.
The current PBX handover is direct: staff do not receive a private spoken briefing before connection. Warm transfers to public landline and mobile numbers are a different call path, explained on our AI call transfer page.
Choose the calls that suit AI handling first. An after-hours assistant can capture the reason for calling and contact details for staff follow-up. Overflow answering can gather the information your team needs when the normal reception route is busy.
The PBX decides when these calls are sent to AiDial. Any booking, CRM update or notification depends on the supported business integration and the actions enabled for your project. Review our voice AI integrations and AI answering service for the wider workflow options.
A phone-system brand alone does not confirm compatibility. We need to check your product, version, service plan, provider permissions and the actual route carrying calls. Ask your phone administrator to join the assessment.
We confirm whether the provider permits a direct authenticated connection and can return callers to the approved extensions or queues. The connection and its transfer behaviour must pass testing before activation. FreePBX and 3CX routes still require qualification; they are not blanket supported connections.
Your administrator checks the direct SIP connection, which is the protocol used to connect the phone systems. It must support authentication without AiDial registering as a staff extension, and a direct handover back to the PBX. Network access, the agreed encryption and two-way audio are checked for the intended route.
Agree what happens when a destination is busy, unanswered or a queue answers with hold music. A handover to a queue does not confirm that a person has answered. Include the call limits, who supports each part of the connection and the route to use if the pilot is disabled.
Phone-service and IT partners can discuss adding AiDial call handling to a customer’s existing phone system. The partner or customer’s provider continues to manage the PBX, handsets, numbers and carriage, while AiDial handles the agreed AI conversation and approved business actions.
Start with one customer and one tested workflow. Agree customer ownership, support hours, escalation and the charges for each part of the service before making commitments. See our implementation partner program or discuss a wider enterprise voice AI requirement.
Recording and transcription settings apply to the AiDial part of the call, with the agreed consent and retention rules. After the direct PBX handover, AiDial leaves and does not record or transcribe the onward staff conversation.
AI usage, setup and provider call charges must be confirmed for your route. An internal extension does not mean the connection is free. For the wider consent, access and retention questions, read about AiDial’s privacy and compliance controls.
AI PBX integration connects an AI receptionist to your business phone system for selected calls. The assistant can handle the agreed enquiry and ask that same phone system to hand the caller to an approved internal extension or queue. Each customer connection needs assessment and testing.
Keeping the existing setup is the intended approach. Your provider must confirm that your number and phone-system configuration can support the chosen call route. We agree the route with your administrator before changing anything.
Those connections need qualification on the customer’s product, version and provider route. They are not blanket supported integrations. Tell us which system you use so we can assess the required access, direct connection and handover behaviour.
The current PBX connection uses a direct handover without a private spoken briefing. If your workflow needs a briefing or staff acceptance, tell us during assessment. Warm transfers to public phone numbers use a separate call path.
No. PBX integrations are being prepared for controlled customer pilots. We assess the provider’s permissions, connection, network and transfer behaviour, then test the agreed workflow before any customer activation.
Behaviour depends on the PBX and its configured routing. Before activation, we test busy, unanswered, rejected and queue calls and agree the handling for each. We do not promise automatic retries, a backup extension or message capture after every failed handover.
No. With the direct PBX handover, AiDial leaves the call and records or transcribes none of the onward conversation. The AI part follows the recording, consent and retention settings agreed for your project.
Tell us your phone-system provider and product, the calls you want handled, the extensions or queues involved and whether your administrator can join the discussion. Setup, AI usage and provider call charges are confirmed during scoping. Please do not include passwords or other credentials in the enquiry.
