Manage your own on-call roster in the AiDial Portal. Authorised team members can choose from approved contacts, update on-call periods and add temporary closures.
Roster management can be configured for your AiDial service. We set up your approved contacts, call-handling rules and team access before you start using it.
Your team can plan on-call cover in the AiDial Portal and change upcoming assignments as plans change. Choose an approved contact and set the start and end times. A weekly view helps you see who is covering each period.
For example, a trade business could assign one technician this weekend and another next weekend. Once AiDial applies the roster, relevant calls are transferred to the technician assigned for that time, according to the business’s agreed call-handling rules.
AiDial sets up your approved contacts and team access. Your authorised team members manage the dates and assignments themselves. Explore how the roster works with AI call routing.
If no one is assigned for a particular time, calls that need on-call help can use a backup contact agreed during setup. That contact must be available under your call-handling rules.
This backup covers an unfilled roster period. It does not mean AiDial will automatically call someone else if the assigned person does not answer. We agree unanswered-call handling separately. Trying several people in order is a separate call-transfer setup, not part of a roster assignment.
Add a temporary closure alongside your normal opening hours and public holidays, such as an afternoon of staff training or a planned office closure. Once AiDial applies it, your receptionist can tell callers you are temporarily closed and follow your agreed call-handling instructions.
Calls to contacts who follow your main opening hours can be restricted during a closure. Your on-call contact can remain reachable if that is part of your setup. We agree these rules with you so temporary closures and essential cover work together. Closures do not cancel bookings or change outbound-call schedules.
Through custom development, AiDial can connect roster management with your existing job management, scheduling or rostering system. This can help align on-call routing with your team’s schedule and reduce duplicate updates.
We assess your system’s integration capabilities and agree how the connection will work, including how roster changes reach your AiDial service. Talk to us about custom integrations for your workflow.
Saving records your roster or closure changes in the Portal. AiDial then applies them to your service in a separate step. Until that happens, callers use the previous settings.
The Portal shows whether your changes are waiting to go live or are live on calls. If it cannot confirm what is live, contact AiDial to check. Agree the activation process with us and allow time before a planned changeover.
On-call roster management forms part of the AiDial conversational AI platform. Tell us how your team manages cover and we will help plan the setup for your service.

It helps your team manage who takes on-call enquiries and when your business is temporarily closed. You choose contacts and dates in the AiDial Portal. Your AI receptionist follows the agreed call-handling rules once AiDial applies those changes.

Yes, by covering different periods. Each on-call responsibility has one assigned contact at a time. The Portal prevents overlapping assignments, and one person’s cover can end when the next person’s begins.
AiDial uses the backup contact agreed during setup when there is no assignment for that time. The backup contact’s availability and your call-handling rules still apply; this does not guarantee that someone will answer.
No. The roster selects one contact for the current period. The backup contact covers a gap in the roster, not an unanswered call. We agree unanswered-call handling separately. Trying several people in order requires a separate call-transfer setup.

It is a period when your business is closed in addition to its normal opening hours and public holidays. Examples include staff training, an office meeting or a planned interruption.
Yes, if that is part of your agreed setup. Your on-call contact can remain available while calls to contacts who follow your main opening hours are restricted. We confirm these rules with you before use.
No. Closures change how your receptionist handles business hours and relevant call transfers. They do not cancel bookings or change outbound-call schedules.

The Portal shows whether changes are waiting to go live or are live on calls. If it cannot confirm the status, or calls do not follow the schedule you expected, contact AiDial to check.
The roster uses the time zone configured for your AiDial service. Check the dates and times shown in the Portal when planning cover, especially around daylight-saving changes.
Your authorised team members can edit it. We agree who needs access during setup, so the right people can manage cover and temporary closures.
No. You enter each on-call period with its own start and end time. Repeating schedules, copying a whole week, workforce capacity planning and payroll are not included.
